Today, I want to talk about one of the common everyday conditions, which we commonly call “tennis elbow.” This condition affects the elbow joint, specifically the outer part of the arm, and causes significant pain in this joint. It usually occurs due to continuous pressure on a specific area of the elbow—especially when the joint is bent—which leads to stretching of the tendons and muscles, resulting in chronic pain.
It can happen to manual laborers, athletes (especially bodybuilders), and others. Prevention involves avoiding repetitive movements, physiotherapy, and therapeutic exercises. If the problem persists, we sometimes use special elbow braces that wrap around the area from here to here, and we also prescribe specific movement regimens for our patients.
We also have injection treatments for this joint, whether with cortisone or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). Surgery is another option, but we rarely resort to it because we have achieved good results with the mentioned methods.
